Everything, Everything

Everything, Everything

Nicola Yoon

Everything, Everything, by Nicola Yoon, is a novel based off of the perspective of a 18-year-old girl named Maddy Whittier. Maddy may look like a normal, everyday 18-year-old girl, but she has a problem. What’s the problem you ask? She has severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) also know as “bubble baby disease.” Bubble baby disease is the disease where you are pretty much allergic to everything. Although Maddy is supposed to be spending her life partying and finding a college, Maddy has to stay at home with her white walls, white room, and white clothes, with her nurse checking on her every few hours. That is, until Maddy meets Olly Bright. When Olly Brights moves next door, Maddy feels drawn to meeting him in person. Soon enough Olly and Maddy start to email each other online. They start to become great friends, even without meeting each other in person. Soon, Maddy can’t take it anymore, she has to meet him. After a long process, they finally meet. Although life is better for Maddy with Olly with in it, she still wants to see the world. So, she does it. Taking Olly with her, Maddy travels to Hawaii. At first, it seemed safe, Maddy was healthy and happy. But of course, luck runs out. Maddy has a near-death experience due to her disease. Or is it? What if the one thing Maddy had known in her life for sure was a lie. Find out what’s truth and lie in Everything, Everything, by Nicola Yoon.

Everything, Everything, is an amazing novel with love, adventure, and finding who you are. I cried, laughed, and was surprised while following Maddy and Olly’s adventure through their year of being 18. In case you didn’t know, Everything, Everything, has also been turned into a movie. Everything about the book is perfect and it takes an even better twist when everything Maddy thought was true may have been a lie. Everything, Everything, is perfect for readers who love adventure and love.
