Sunny Side Up, by Jennifer L. Holm, is a heartwarming comic based off a 10-year-old girl named Sunny. Sunny’s older brother is going through a tough time and throws the entire summer vacation plans out the window. So, instead of spending the summer with her best friend on the beach, Sunny has been sent to Sunny Florida alone to stay the vacation with her grandfather. Sunny can’t stop thinking about home and doesn’t know what to do. When Sunny meets her grandfather, she tries to forget what happened on July 4th. When Sunny meets a new friend her age at her grandfather’s retirement home, she is blinded that her her grandfather is smoking. Sunny helps her grandfather from smoking, and grows in a way that helps her become mature and confident in herself. Follow Sunny as she travels from being childish to a mature, loving girl.

Sunny Side Up is a heartwarming story about a girl who overcomes family problems and finds herself in a mature way. Sunny Side Up is a adorable comic that relates to kids who have gone through family problems or has gone through tough times. Not only does Sunny Side Up, portrays family problems that occur everyday in a way that is kid-friendly, it also is a fantastic read for anybody. I personally have read this book on numerous accounts and each time I have fallen in love with it again and again.
