The Witches, by Roald Dahl, is fantastical, magical, and an amazing story that is a fun read for anybody. This is not a run-of-the-mill fairy-tale. This is a story about real witches. A story about the witches that don’t ride on broomstick, or wear all black with pointy hats; a story about the witches that are vile, cunning, and detestable creatures who disguise themselves as nice, ordinary ladies. So, here’s the question, how can you tell when you're face to face with a witch? Well, if you don't know yet, witch loathes children and they’ll wield all kinds of terrifying powers just to get rid of them. The story is set partly in Norway and partly in the United Kingdom, and features the experiences of a young British boy and his Norwegian grandmother in a world where clubs of child-hating witches secretly exist in every country. The witches are all ruled by the extremely vicious and powerful Grand High Witch. But an elderly former witch hunter and her young grandson find out about the evil plan and now they must do everything to stop it.
The Witches is one of my all time favorite books. I’ve always been a tremendous fan of Roald Dahl and his writing, and without a doubt, this is one of my favorite books from him. This book tells a story of a grandma, a grandson, and their journey together as they rid the world of witches and save the children of the world. I would recommend this book to everyone. It is a fun read and well worth the experience! Roald Dahl is an amazing author who can combine the scary with the witty, while still writing a children's fairy-tales. When I first read this story, I remember I was terrified and fascinated at the same time when I read this story. Nonetheless, I heavily recommend reading The Witches.
